I served 10 years in the British Army as a communications specialist. I became a subject matter expert on complex radio networks and learned to effectively troubleshoot the various communication equipment we used. This experience is similar to what I do today as an electronic test technician.
With direction from engineering and using standard test procedures, I have been able to become an effective member of a team of men and women dedicated to serving this nation and its allies in a different capacity.
I did not transition here right out of the military so my skills weren’t as sharp as they were before. However, my familiarity with the equipment combined with a working environment where you are constantly learning and provided tools for training, helped me catch up quickly.
My advice to anyone looking to transition from the military to BAE Systems is to know that the skills and training you gained while serving will be of value here, you work alongside fellow veterans, and it is a place to thrive.
